To achieve revolutionary advances in the future, technological innovations need to converge with various other engineering, socio-behavioral, and humanistic disciplines. Such research needs to go hand-in-hand with extension, outreach, education, and farmer capacity-building efforts best achieved through a community participatory framework, to maximize the impact and acceptance of technology in farming.

HARVEST brings together six collaborating research disciplines that address each of these areas, hence providing the necessary breadth of expertise to solve complex sociotechnical problems in agriculture.

Each research discipline, or 'Hexagon', is led by three unique members of the RCN.
